Friday, March 23, 2007 Survived. . !! Another week at SIW gone. . . I felt so much relieved. . .Just 24hours ago i was somewhere out in the field, feeding the mosquito, camping in the middle of the woods, doing some mission as part of our course summary exercise. . . It was perhaps the toughest thing that i've ever went through in army so far. . . the summary exercise. . . as i think of it now, i'm really happy that it was already over. . . We had to walk for distances, bash through the vegetation with the almost 35kg missiles or the 20 over kilos weapon system on our back. . . then, upon reaching our objectives, we had to camp inside the mosquitoes infested forest for long periods of time. . . at night, we remained inside the forest, dug a trench and slept beside it. . . It was absolutely a difficult time, especially with the unusually large amount of mosquitoes inside the vegetation. . . No one were spared from bites. . . not even when you are armed with insect repellents or mosquito coils. . . they had the capability to penetrate through our no.4 and they were ruthless in their sucking of our blood. . . No place on our body were safe from bites. . . One of my sergeant got his lip bitten so many times that it had swollen to such extent that it looked like a 'sausage'. . . it was just that scary, and it gave us a horrible experience. . . some were even saying that if there's anyone to attack singapore, the mosquitoes here will frighten them away. . . I've got bites everywhere, but maybe not as worse as the rest, thanks to the mosquito coils that i had brought along. . . but the night was still something to remember, almost impossible to sleep with mosquitoes buzzing around your ear, and you witnessed how ineffective your mosquito coil can still be. . . |
