Something Different

I'm beginning to feel tired of all these procedures that have to be go through before we can book out. . .
Area cleaning, stand by area, wait for everyone to be ready when normally there will be delays after delays. . . it's sickening. . i wander how many more times of these that i have to go through before i ord. . .

It's been a tiring week. . . just like the past few weeks have been. . . the reason being that we have to paint the vehicles in preparation for next week's COC, besides the ACCT lessons that we were scheduled to attend. . .
Just which fella from HQ actually went to suggest painting the track of the vehicles that caused all of us to suffer the same fate. . . it was tough job as we had to carry out the painting work everyday after our ACCT lessons. . . it didn't help some more when some of our own guys chose not to come down to help. . . that left only few of us to complete the job. . . while i personally don't mind doing these shit, even if that means i have to do more, i hope when everything is done and complete, ready for handover, ps won't be too stingy in rewarding us with off days. . .

ACCT lessons were quite fun i thought. . . kinda enjoyed slamming people, and surprisingly, being slammed too. . but it could have been more fun. . . it's a lot depend on your partner that you paired with to do the techniques. . if you can get someone who is sorta 'garang', then you can do the more acrobatic ways, where you really slammed hard and get your partner flying in mid air. . . that will be a lot more fun and inflict more pain, though. . . but i have got zixiang and he isn't the sort. . . so most of the time i will try to do the 'play cheat method', where you actually just wayang all the way, it's easy to do and inflict almost no pain. . .
Seriously most of the time they are all wayangs. . you go in and copy the moves they taught you, shout a bit here and there, that's it. . . only perhaps the knife technqiues are the most useful in real life. . . it teaches us how to deal and retaliate when someone assault you with a knife, dagger or whatsoever. . yet how many people actually will have the guts and the calmness to perform all that in that kinda situation, given also that the limited practise we got. . you are not even an amatuer martial art practioner even after you passed their grading. . .
in my heart, it's part of the ord package, i wanna ord so i have to complete and pass it, to save my backside from being thrown under fire. .

We will be welcoming a new CO next week. . . all the preparations on the vehicles are for the parade to open our arms to him. . . officially take over next week. . . unofficially already took over the previous david lee this tuesday. . just came here and he isn't proving that he is anyone too kind and friendly to whole lot of us in here. . and the first thing i heard about him was that he implemented a compulsory physical training session for every monday, wednesday and friday. . . we have to run early in the morning today even though there is ACCT later on. . obviously out to do us up huh. . i can sense that he is not going to give us a good time from then till we ord. . . oh no, we gonna miss david lee. . . !

i don't have much time left. . gonna leave home to book in back to camp in a couple of minutes time. . .

only a half day off, today, until 1300, for all the amount of things we did in ahm. . .
it was not a lot actually, but i will still call it pretty tiring shit jobs. . went back to camp early in the night at 9pm, loaded all the barricades up the trucks, proceeded to the working place, slack a while, unload the barricades then deployed to the respective checkpoints at about 2am. . . that was where all the shits started. .
i was the marshaller at one of this entrance to ECP somewhere in marina south. . it was a cross junction and pc only told me that vehicles can go anywhere they want except through the road i'm guarding. . . so that was how i directed traffic to either ways possible as long as they don't come in. . . i did my job and somehow with no apparent reason, i was getting scolded my taxi drivers again and again. . . finally when one of the construction truck driver stopped and told me that the road to my right which i was directing the vehicles to is a deadend. . . then i came to realise to reasons for all the scoldings. . .
nevertheless, how the hell do i know, anyway my job is to stop cars from entering my lane, whether they wanna go which direction is none of my concern, these taxi drivers are sometimes too overboard. . .
that was why i hated them, because even after i managed to get them to go only one direction now, they were complaining, scolding and making a big fuss about the blockage of the road. . . darn people, they spoke as though i'm the one who did that. . .
it was tiring. . . i was deployed there for about 10 hours, handling and seeing all these kinda situations, coming across with all kinda fucker drivers we singapore have and i can say that nearly all of them are taxi drivers. . . it was lucky that i had one of the auxillary police there with me. . . we managed to click off well, entertained each other, and then i can have time to slack since he took control of the entire traffic control. . . it was actually from him i learn one or two things about these kinda traffic control thingy. . you did your job, informed them about the road closure and deadend ahead, if they still insist on proceeding or complain then it is their own business. . . but i still kinda can't stand it whenever people scold me unreasonably. . . feels like scolding them back yet can't do so. . . it is just difficult to turn a deaf ear to their words. .

so aftering a tiring day of work, we only managed to get everything done and booked out at 3pm. . i had not even sleep for more than 30 minutes for the entire 24 hours. . yet still, i went out to k box and after that majong with rong, roy and jialiang. .
i lost again in the majong. . . this time i'm the only loser. . . though i lost less than the previous time. . 13.50. . i really didn't know why, i felt i just lack the luck i need. . . i always managed to form the card to win, yet always failed to get the last card to make the win. . . frustrating. . . may be that just described my luck for this entire year. . .

Wat good life huh. . ? booked out at this time of the day. .
No. . definitely wasn't so. . given such early time to leave camp mostly because we have to report back tomorrow night to do the AHM, or SBR as they are now called, for the entire saturday night and sunday. . a bit sian, but not so if they are kind enough to give us some extra off days other than the one in lieu on monday, which was to compensate us for the weekend burned for this event. .

It wasn't even a relaxed week. . . except for monday where we got some time in the afternoon to slack, the rest of the days there were things to do, tiring. . i thought i will have ample time to waste this week and in the end i realised i got it all wrong. .
Company PT on monday. . . again it was the leisure run, that never gonna be any close to what it's name. . . i was in front this time, just behind CSM who was leading the run, and the pace was like not much different from that intensive training i had did to prepare for ippt last time. . . i had did feeling that he's really pushing us to get a platinum, if there is one. .
Then run again on thursday. . this time it's battalion 4.2km run. . it became more than 4.2km when they changed the route to a longer one due to some parade taking place. . i was rather indecisive at deciding whether to really run my best, but the moment it started, i was at a competitive pace without any hesitation. . that was how eventually, i finished nineth. . pretty fast at first, even managed to overtake the likes of captain nigel and pioneer pc, yet eventually my age finally caught up with me and i lagged behind quite a few of them. .
nevertheless, i never crave to be the best runner in the battalion. . . but when the conducting officer announced the names of the top 10 runners, he got mine run. .. he called me zhi qi. . i became stuck in a dilemma of not knowing whether to laugh or to cry. . this was the second time, the previous time they got my company wrong. . . looks like i'm not destined to be among the top runners. .

Wednesday, thursday and friday were delicated to the vehicles. . I had got a tremendously tiring wednesday doing some arduous works. . . first, washed the vehicle in the morning. . . exterior and the tracks of the darned vehicle was super dirty. . Then, the entire afternoon we spent to change the battery, one of the job i hated most. . . it was tough work, tedious work, strenuous work and mentally demanding work. . only me and zixiang were there to get the job done, immediately after the washing. . i have to sayang the vehicle for cropping up with this kinda problem at this time. . . at the verge of handing over and at the edge of the coc parade. . .
after surviving a couple of hiccups along the way, at last we got it done, not totally successful because no matter how hard we tried, the battery panels just do not want to be aligned to the screws to secured it onto the mounting brackets. . seems to me that love is absence between them, and that made me very fed up. . gonna hand over soon and they will surely fault it if they see this. . but i left it unscrewed anyway. .
thursday and this morning we were painting the vehicles. . 4 of them. . till now only 2 considered done. . . given brushes that looked just good enough to paint the corners of the walls in my house, it was no surprised that we took years to do even one. . at where i am, they expect you to do things fast, do things well and yet they don't supply you with the equipments that will facilitate it. .

Tuesday there was a night out for the company but i didn't go. . stayed in the camp to catch ya hui in her first appearance in star search. . pretty gorgeous in the beautiful outfit. . her only performance was the dance thingy which from television, there wasn't much of her. . . but i guess she must did quite well since she has been in this kinda things all along. . for the entrance introduction, it was fairly remarkable i think, at least when i asked rong, he said she stand quite a good chance. . . hopefully. .

Went with jerry to watch yahui in her star search publicity show at plaza singapura just now. . . it wasn't really those kinda big scale publicity show that i have expected, but i guess among the audience, she did have her share of supporters, that was good enough. . . she looked glamorous with that white colour dress and that nicely tied hairstyle, and if the show is all about looks, she do stand a chance to be one of the top fews. . . but since it's not, and the show's starting on tuesday, it's all up to her talent and whether her hardwork all the while will bear any fruit for her. . . as a friend, like many others, we will be in front of the tv, cheering for her. . .

Back in camp. . A week with nothing worth much to say, that's what i will say about this week. . .

Been doing just a lot of physical trainings back in camp. . . Really lazy, i didn't feel like doing at all. . . With the new chief of armour, a ranger converted armour general, we have to do PTs not once, not twice but thrice a week. . . Every monday, tuesday and wednesday we will have to run, do static exercises or have combat PTs. . . what the hell man, ording soon and they are coming out with such things to tekan us. . demoralising. . .even when i had cleared both my soc and ippt wasn't spared. . . csm came out with this leisure run thingy that while the rest are engaging in their intensive trainings, we will be doing sorta a more 'relax' training session. . . "this is SAF, there's no such thing as not doing PT." that was what he said. . . whatever. . i don't even think that the leisure run was anywhere too leisure at all. . . during yesterday's run, all of us in the leisure group were like sweating a lot more than the others. . . they never mean what they said, that's how they speak there. .

Anyway, i did guard duty on wednesday. . . gonna be a lot more troublemore nowadays. . . before we check in to the guardroom for our duties, we had to go to this ATI parade square to do guard mounting. . . there, we did a whole series of those funny funny drills. . . never even did them before at the first place, we were all pretty screwed up. . . trust them to come up with these silly craps, only tired us to perform our duties later. . .
I was forced to do the first sentry that day. . . That was thanks to some people. . . at first one of the pioneer guy agreed to prowl with me, and for some reason which i did not know, he got the detailing sheet and wrote his name for the third sentry. . . what a nice chap. . . then the others snatched and rushed to write their names for the prowling details. . . that left with only the second and first sentry. . . but since that nicholas tan had waited longer to write in the detail sheet, i didn't bother to fight over the second sentry duty. . .
i took it in my stride to do the first sentry duty, though there was one more shift to do than the rest. . . as i come to think of it, i don't blame these people at all. . .
people are all selfish. . . if you don't fight for yourself, then who will. .? even more true is this chinese saying, ren bu wei ji tian zhu di mie. . . so in other words, it's still back to the what i said in the previous entry, that the most reliable person is yourself. . . you fight for what you want, you rely on yourself to do your things, never expect people to do it for you. . .
so the problem was, i took it for granted that the pioneer fella will keep his agreement to prowl with me and that i didn't bother to fight with them for the detailing sheet, eventually i got myself to blame for having to do extra works. .

12 days past the month, 2 days past pay day and i have now officially declared broke. . . gg. . .

I went on a shopping spree yesterday. . . I got 1 levi jean, 1 shirt from espirit and 1 short pant from samuel and kelvin. . . How many times in my life had i spent like this. . .? guess 1 hand should be enough to count. . . actually i intended to buy 1 jacket too but well, fortunately i couldn't find the one that i want. . .

I felt as though i'm basically burning money away for the whole of yesterday. . . the spending spree was one, then i met up with roy, max and the rest to go to a thai disco at beach road. . . It was a first time experience. . . quite different from a typical singapore disco as in the environment there i will describe as 'complicated', the people there i can see 5 or 6 out of every 10 were tattooed, the girls there looked kinda loose and the atmosphere there kinda similar to the ones i usually see in any thai movies. .
but anyway, it was practically a waste of money. . . i didn't really appreciate the performance, where the songs were mostly sang in thai, i'm not really interested in seeing those loose girls that sometimes turned me off and the beer itself wasn't anything too nice too. . . instead, i'm more like there to watch liverpool against aston villa in the first premier league match of the season. . . they played darn well i thought, but nearly ended in dismal when gareth barry levelled the game for villa from the penalty spot after carragher had handed the ball. . . Then, just when the game was heading to a 1-1 draw, man of the match cum captain cum my favourite player won the game for liverpool with a beautiful curler that flew into the top left hand corner of the net. . . simply brilliant. . .
alright, that boring place. . . we actually left quite early, at about 2plus am and settled for a majong game at willy's house. . . that became the next place where i burned some more cash. . . I'm not sure whether that i'm down in my luck or probably i suck at the game, as not only did i not win a single cent, i lost every single chip i have with me. . . The old tactic of playing with small cards and looking for small wins don't work anymore as others always managed to win the game before i can get the cards i want. . . the luck was probably still there, i can get those kinda cards that can form up the win but always miss the card that will finish off the move. . . it was as good as no luck in other words. . .
there are only two choice now. . . quit majong or learn the essential know-hows. . . i'm gonna choose the later. . . majong is too fun a game to quit. .

i'm on off tomorrow. . . but will be staying at home to do the ord quiz and watch some shows. . . no more money to go out now. . .
by the way, secret was really a nice movie. . . it was beyond my expectation of what the movie will turn out to be. . . darn nice. . . must watch. . .

What a night. . !

It was a holiday eve and 9 of the BOYS in the class of sRjC 2s13 2005 gathered at a pub in boat quay to celebrate a farewell for sigmund's return to his 'homeland', taiwan. . .
It was a rather packed wednesday night as we were having some difficulties in finding a place to accumulate the 9 of us. . . finally we managed to find one, and by coincident, that was actually the one that i had went with chris, max and the rest during the new year eve. . .

I really felt as though we had went back to the good old times, where we were still good classmates of 2s13. . . there, we talk cock, sing songs and tried means to make each others drink up. . . maybe now that most of us had changed, some a rock star to be, some a commissioned officer already, some a temporary taiwanese soldier, some operating a tank to defend our homeland, some a sea soldier protecting our shores, some a specialist in the elite of our army and some an engineer engineering the success of our national day parade today. . . but i could feel that the spirits were still the same. . . we are still good friends, good classmates, brothers of 2s13. . .
Changes among us will continue to take place, soon we will all ord, some will have become a popular idol with fans of many, some of us will be furthering our studies in university, and some will be working. . . but no matter how much we will change to be, i seriously hope that such friendship among us will remain the same. . .

It's really like after going through the shits of army that i realised the best times are still the school days. . . even maybe after we go to university, it will still not be comparable to those good moments we had in secondary and jc. . . where can you still find the times where you can talk cock, play a fool and do stupid things during lesson again. . ?
so well, perhaps i'm not good at anything i do, and god didn't give me any talent to come with, i'm pretty appreciative of the fact that i have a bunch of horrific people to mix with. . .

I'm still pretty much tired. . . This week i haven't got back any enough rest so far. . . but i will still go for sigmund's farewell at clarke quay later. . .

I had a really horribly busy week. . . May be it's just three days to spend in camp but it's really pushing me to my limit, i'm exhausted. . .
Two days of consecutive heavy workloads were just too hard to take. . .

Firstly, i'm the platoon ic this week, and i felt i'm one of the most garang one. . .
i hate being the ic, and i will try to make this the last time i be one. . .
sometimes i really hate these people inside the platoon, not all but some. . . one word to describe them, "selfish". . . one phrase to describe them, "fucking selfish slack people". . .
all the while when there were works to be done and i was to get some manpower to get them done, no one willing to come and help. . . when i was made to arrow people, those people who were willing to lift up their butts and get the things done were always the same few. . .
because of this, i felt bad at getting the same people to help me again and again that i tried to do most things i can by my own. . .
what were the rest doing. . ? most of the time they were just too engrossed in their sleep. . . i know them too well, even if i wake them up they won't help. . .
darn man, i'm just bloody small corporal and man, nothing i can do if they don't want to do. . . so well, it's fine, i suffered this time round as ic, the last time too. . . i submit to my fate that i'm the ic and that i have to do all the shit myself. . . but i swear i won't help when they need mine, whoever is the ic do it himself. . . i will simply just finish my own things then follow the sop. . . sleep. . !
and thanks to them, i've finally learned that the most reliable person is you yourself, never depend on others to help you, they are not obliged to, and be thankful enough that they don't sabotage you. . .

monday and tuesday were tekan sessions, we all felt that. . . tuesday was the craziest day. . . i worked more than 8 hours, washed the vehicles for 1/2 day and did servicings for the remaining time. . . even using 1/2 the day we haven't even complete our washing, but were interrupted to do servicings for the vehicle at the very last minute. . .
A lot of expectations for the cleanliness, the interior especially, that idiot expect something like lri standard. . . we were made to slog hard to produce such qualities. . . it was purely hard work. . . worked so hard that we even miss the lunch time and ate our packed food ration at afternoon's teabreak time. . .
no one complained, because we all have the heart to make this the last time and send them away after that. . . while we were at the mist of it, the technicians came and interrupted our entire process. . . they stopped us and told us to drive the vehicle to the workshop to service for the amber manning. . .
no choice but to follow, the instruction came as order through a chain of commands, from the CO to the BWO to these guys then to us. . . we did as told and ended doing servicings instead of completing the cleaning. . . by that moment everyone were already drained of energy. . . yet we still have to do it. . . then other problems cropped up like missing spare parts, missing tools etc. . . working under such situation with such an exhaust mind and body, it came as no surprise that zixiang actually flared up when sergeant nicholas made a big fuss about the missing tools. . . i'm entirely shag out too, and instead of blowing my top, i was being superbly sarcastic and deceitful to the technicans' complaints about all the vehicles' fault. . . i just feigned ignorance to all the problems and let them do some of the shits themselves. . .
we went through all these and i will see that this is the last time. . . that idiot better not make us do anything like this again. . . he made the decision to call us to wash the vehicles at this time, knowing clearly himself that there is a possibility of moving out if there's a recall for amber manning. . . we will not waste our effort to do a double job due to his miscalculation of the events or whatsoever. . .

i guess i will have to wait till tomorrow to have a good long rest. . . better not call us back at this period. . .

So tired, i don't really feel like making this a long one, even though there's really lotsa things to be said. . .

my stomach isn't feeling anywhere too comfortable now. . . i had just ate my lunch and dinner together. . . didn't have time to eat in the afternoon and was really tremendous hungry, i ended eating too much and this is what i got. . .

i went to play soccer this morning. . . we got thrashed, a good thrashing from the opponent. . .
i realised i shouldn't comment too much on the game, because i myself played like some rubbish too. . . but just to say that the team we were facing were kinda crap, they aren't comparable to any good teams i had faced before. . . we must admit that we weren't up to standard, by any measure. . .
i don't know whether to say that i'm basically too prone to provoking other people in the game, but it really happened to me too often. . . i nearly blew up with one of the opponent's player today. . . at a moment i got an adrenaline rush and ready to throw into blows with that guy and the next moment i withdrew all the temper and apologised. . . i was at fault at the first place, i made an aggressive challenge at that fellow, but his reaction pissed me off. . . staring at me though he wanted to pick up a fight. . . i hate these situation, for i always thought if i relent they will think that i'm some pushover. . . i always felt like this since young and that was how i really got into fights some couple of times. . .
nevertheless, i still relented, gonna ord soon, i know clearly that these kinda troubles will be unnecessary. . .
it takes a great deal to control your temper. . .

I don't feel like booking in later. . . it's gonna be a short week because of the national day holidays, yet these few days will have lotsa things to do. . . washing then do all the servicings. . . there's combat run tomorrow too. . sian, i thought atec finish life will be more relax. . . all lies. . .

The first day back in camp after 1 week worth of off. . . and csm made us launched a large scale area cleaning in bunk. . . It felt kinda, what the, first day back in camp and wanna make us sweat. . .
so we took out all the window panels and cleaned them one by one. . . it sounds like an easy job, but with the number of panels there was to clean, and the hassle of having to take out these fragile creatures and put them back again was a tiring thing to do. . .
It's just that darn fragile, used a little bit more force and one of the glass piece will chip out, then if you are unlucky, you get cut on your hand. . .
Casuality rates were pretty high while performing this job as quite a number of unlucky fellows got themselves injured. . . i was one of the unlucky one, it was quite a deep cut that i got. . . i had to use out all my guts to not scream when my platoon mate applied the qing cao yu on me. . .
Nevertheless, the job lasted only for the entire morning, afternoon we got to sleep, slack in bunk before we had our night out in the evening. . .
The first day back, it was still considered quite a relax day. . . wednesday and thursday were even better though. . . for we almost spent the entire two days in bunk doing nothing. . . we were even treated to a feast of durians and longans in the CO evening on wednesday. . . pretty good life huh. . . then, CO declared two more days off for achieving recon 2A for atec. . . that was not pretty good new however. . . given the pathetic number of days i have now, he really has given us the peanut number of off days. . . darn crap, worked so hard and in the end we only got 7 days in total for stage 2, super depressing. . .
alright, with the 2 days so slack, i was sorta expecting friday to be something like that. . . well, it wasn't so. . it was the day i took over as platoon ic from jj and it was a day we got so many things to do. . . suay. . .
all thanks to ps, we had to do a massive cleaning and revamp on the ovm items and ovm cages. . . at the same time, we had vehicle servicings to do. . . then, we had to account for all the items in our tool bags. . . that were all after we had our battalion 2.4km run and amber manning brief. . . it was typically a shit day. . . we spent the whole of the morning and afternoon working in the scorching hot sun with these craps. . . what's more that i'm the ic and i had to be involve in every single thing. . . sian lo. .
i have already had a tiring morning with the run and briefing before that. . . at first was preparing to walk all the way throughout the battalion run, but changed my mind 500m past the start point. . . after seeing so many people running. . . i joined in the 'fun', and though couldn't really hit it to the top few, i still squeezed into the top 42 and got 22. . .
then during the amber manning brief, i felt as though i had strike toto. . . not sure whether i was lucky or unlucky to be selected to be the detachment ic for the coming standby. . . i can say that i'm damn afraid of these kinda things. . . heavy responsibility and very easy to screw up. . . i pray that everybody will acknowledge in time if really "suay suay kena turn out". . . touchwood. ! then i won't have to perform my job already. . .

I had intended to take off on wednesday actually to turn up for the class gathering on tuesday evening. . . and what supposed to be a class turned out to have only kelvin, zixiang, glen and me. . . was expecting to see sigmund after his return from taiwan, then waigang said he will come too. . . in the end none of them went. . . it became a four party affair. . . so well, i managed to get ps to cancel my off on wednesday and since it was a nightout, i was able to meet them to hang around in town for a while. . . so that was how i ended up getting a a pair of scandal from new urban male that cost me $50bucks. . i was quite reluctant to spend this kinda money at first, but after seeing glen got a similar pair, i finally couldn't resist the temptation and got one too. . .
